Sisters and Brothers, Last Sunday we had a beautiful celebration, the blessing of a statue of St. Mary MacKillop and the installation of a relic of St. Peter To Rot. They are our ‘local saints, the local friends’. This weekend we are celebrating the day of All Saints. St. Peter To Rot and St. Mary MacKillop are two saints among so many. There are thousands or even millions of them. We know the names of some of them, the names of people whom the Church recognises as saints. We know names like Francis, Clare, Dominic or Joan of Arc. But there are many people who are already sharing joy with God; all the dwellers of Heaven are saints. Most of them are anonymous to us but they are well known to God. Their names are written in ‘The Book of the Living’. This first weekend of November we also celebrate The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, better known as the day of All Souls.
