Sisters and Brothers, It is a joy and a happiness to observe small children who pretend to be princes and princesses or some kind of superhero. They believe that the clothes or some gadgets make them one of those characters. They believe that life can be nice and peaceful. We look at them, but we had exactly the same ideas some years ago. We believed that life can be easy. Today we are older, but our dreams don’t change much. We still believe that life can be easy. Australians are the most gambling nation in the world. The latest statistics says that two years ago Australians spend more than $244 billion dollars and lost $31.5 billion dollars. We still have that dream that one day we will win, that one day our life will change, and everything will be nice and easy. Like the children we believe that clothes or gadgets can change us into the superheroes. We are older but our dreams don’t change. Today Jesus says a beautiful parable to us; a story about a rich man who has a dream to be ev...

Diocese Seminarians' Benefit Gala Dinner

Image
The purpose of this dinner is to connect our seminarians with your parishioners and to raise awareness within our Diocese of the ongoing need to assist Catholic men in answering the call to the priesthood.  We are hoping to secure sponsorships for the event to cover the cost of the evening, and whatever we raise that evening will be used to assist with seminary education and support for current and future seminarians over a seven-year formation programme. As you are aware, our seminary expenses are not government-funded nor are we entitled to receive donations that are deductible from the donor’s income tax (DGR). Therefore, we rely on Diocesan support and donations from generous benefactors.  Individual tickets are available for $120 per person which includes welcome drinks and canapes, a three-course dinner including beverages, auctions, raffles, and music. Bookings can be made at www.trybooking.com/DDOPW   However, parishes can book one or more tables of 10 for a reduc...
